Highlight Reel – January 20-26, 2025

I swear, this past week was the LONGEST. WEEK. EVER. Oof! It was oddly busy and yet not.

Headlines, Highlights, and Lowlights

- Finished off Only Murders in the Building, ready for Season 5 if/when it comes out (maybe this year?)
- No new movies, and the only rewatch I can recall is Kong: Skull Island, which is one of my guilty pleasure “I know this is not a good movie, but I enjoy it” flicks. Watched a fair bit of The Big Bang Theory as well.
- We recorded the new show premiere of Watson that came on after the football game, but because it was on so late, we haven’t watched it yet. I’ll let you know what I think next week after we get a chance to see it, though I think it won’t be on again for 3 weeks, so there’s time.
- Network shows are largely up and running this week: The Irrational, The Rookie, Will Trent, High Potential, and Found. I believe next week picks up NCIS: Origins and Matlock. That leaves only Elsbeth and Ghosts, I think, plus the premiere of Suits: LA in February and the return of Doctor Odyssey in March, I think. A lot of these shows will likely have finished their runs by then, particularly High Potential, The Irrational, and Found, which are all probably only 13 episodes and ran most of their episodes back in the fall.
- I actually even read a little bit on Sunday. I’m up to 56% complete on Children of Dune, by Frank Herbert. I’m taking it with me on my trip for airport/plane reading, but that’s also not my most efficient reading, so I doubt I’ll finish it in that time. But it’s on my Kindle, so there’s plenty more to read if I do happen to get done with it.
- Had more snow on Tuesday that stuck around until well into Thursday. I was very upset that they only canceled classes at KSU for Tuesday but not Wednesday. Everything around here was still a complete sheet of ice, but apparently not a single flake fell on the main campus, and nothing stuck to the streets on his campus in Marietta. Even more surprising, my parents got way more than we did! This was the world weirdest snow storm.
- Definitely struggling with my mental health, and I saw that the app “Balance” was offering their app free for one year. [No affiliation, not an ad.] Since meditation is also on my 101 Things, Version 5 list, I decided to give it a try. I haven’t even been using it a week, but I do enjoy my daily afternoon sessions. I’ll let you know if it’s helping.
- Tried a few new recipes. Revamped a recipe called Chicken YumYum (from my friend Leah) that we’ve been eating for several years to improve the macros, and it worked really well. Can’t say the same for trying to revamp our chicken salad recipe in the same way. None of the 6 variations were even vaguely close enough to the original to make them tolerable. I mean, we ate 3 of them so we didn’t waste everything, but we won’t be making any of them again. Also tried a cottage cheese “bagel” recipe. It tasted okay in the end, but the process was… ugh! “Dough should not stick to hands.” Yeah, sure. See picture above for how that went. Longer post on that later.
- My friend Sandy gave me some clothes that she can’t wear, hoping they would fit me now. Several of the shirts fit quite well, but none of the pants really worked for me. She may be a fellow plus-size lady, but she has gorgeous thin legs! And I… don’t. LOL
Coming Soon

- My Las Vegas trip is coming up next week! Getting really excited about it. That’s really taking most of my focus at the moment.
