The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2023) – Interesting, though it left me out of sorts with the ending and things that didn’t make sense/felt unfinished. Reading the book after the fact helped some, but I still wonder about a few things. The music was excellent and catchy, and it actually felt pretty organic to the world it inhabited. I assume we were not supposed to know the significance of “The Hanging Tree” when it showed up in the original trilogy, since this was written as a prequel, but that added a touch of extra depth to the “propo” filmed with Katniss. I do wonder if she (Katniss, not Jennifer Lawrence) understood its origins when she picked that song to perform, or if it is just “part of the culture” in her district by then, without her (at her age) being aware of its origins.
