The Wild Robot

The Wild Robot (2024) – Holy cow, y’all, what an amazing movie! The visual style of the movie was like an oil painting come to life. Very unusual and unique, but lovely to watch. And the voice cast was impeccable! They were so… characteristic? of the animals they played (no offense intended!). Truly some of the best vocal performances I’ve ever seen, I mean heard. The move is PG, and it should be, so please consider that before taking your children. And for the love of all that is holy, take tissues. Yes, PLURAL! I knew I was going to cry, which is part of why it took us a few weeks to see it. I could just tell from the preview, plus I had been warned by a friend who said they “ugly cried” in two different places, and yep, I know which spots they were. I haven’t seen a 3-tissue movie in a long long time, but this one definitely is. (Technically, it was 4 tissues, if you include the one I passed to a certain gosling sitting next to me, who definitely needed it.) It will “get to” the parents even more than young kids, so be aware. I have a few small plot quibbles, but overall, an excellent film. I realize I’m being incredibly vague here, but I truly don’t want to give anything away. Hope you enjoy, tears and all.
