Weekly Spotlight – Nov 3-9, 2024

I know, I know, I keep trying things to get into more of a rhythm with blogging, and it keeps not working! So many different things I’ve tried, but nothing has stuck yet, except maybe my 101 Things updates for Version 5 (currently in progress). But here I am again, trying something else, to see if I can get here more often. I did actually start keeping a paper planner/journal in 2024, and I did in fact write in it nearly every day so far! Seriously, that is the first time in my life that has ever happened. Mostly just tracking the movies and TV shows we were watching, but also some daily life things and thoughts here or there, with notable news on occasion. Maybe that will help me with this? Guess we’ll find out.

I know it’s weird to start something like this in November, but I’m hoping that maybe if I start now, it will be an established habit by the time 2025 rolls around? We’ll see. I doubt that each of these “categories” will be here every week (believe it or not, we don’t watch a new movie every single week); some may drop off and new ones may appear from week to week. I’m trying not to be so “strict” about it, since I know that sets me up for failure. So we’ll just see what comes to mind that I think is worth mentioning each week. I’m also not loving the name, but I can’t come up with anything “catchier” right now, so if you have suggestions, I’m all ears. I’m also going to try not to babble on and on (haha) about things here. They will (mostly) be presented without additional commentary, except for the nails. Can’t decide if I want to leave those here or make them their own separate post. Let me know you’re thoughts on that.

Headlines, Highlights, and Lowlights

• Saw two new movies at the theater this week: The Wild Robot (review) and Conclave (review)
• Started walking again with my friend Sandy
• Restarted my “5 Minute Mobility” efforts this week
• Quincy Jones died; music today literally would not sound the same without his genius
• Voted on Tuesday with Luke
• Had a good 3 month checkup at the dentist after all of this summer’s dental work
• Trump won the election
• Received my RingConn Generation 2 that I ordered back in late summer (no affiliation; will post a full review after I’ve had it for a little longer)
• Tried a new recipe, but it was disappointing (enough so that I’m not going to bother mentioning it)
• Got to text a lot with my brother this week
• Started shopping for/buying Christmas gifts
• Did much better on my water intake this week; at least 6 glasses every day but one (and 5 on that day), with 3 days of 8 glasses

Coming Soon

• Red One (2024) comes out next week. I am SOOO excited for this one! REALLY hope it’s good.
• Trying out a new pen in my planner/journal. I know that sounds like a weird thing to be looking forward to, but it will make more sense later (probably in late December or early January).
