Zepbound Goals – September 2024

I really did intend to do this every month, but things always seemed to go haywire that last week, including this month! It’s a holiday weekend and I’m home for a change (that would be this month’s haywire part; I have a stupid cold and don’t want to infect my parents!), so there is unexpected time in my schedule. And also, HOW IS IT ALREADY SEPTEMBER??!!!
Status: I am a tenth of a pound away from having lost 30 lbs (13.6 kg)
Yes, you read that correctly, 30 pounds down since Memorial Day (May 27). I know, I can’t believe it either! I actually started wearing some of my older clothes that are a size down this past week. As it turns out, I may have waited too long to try them, because a few of them are baggy! But I’m not quite small enough for the next size down from there. (Not yet!) I know my regular pants and long sleeve shirts are going to be swimming on me by the time it gets cool enough to wear them in late September or early October! I know, what an “awful” first world problem to have. It’s still expensive, though. Plus size clothing is difficult to find at thrift stores, plus I will definitely need new bras and underwear soon (and definitely NOT thrifted ones!).
As you know by now, I lost my sense of taste a couple of weeks ago. We don’t know if it is because of the Zepbound, because of the dosage increase (I moved from 2.5 mg to 5 mg on August 5), or something else, but my doctor took me off of *everything* except my blood pressure meds and my depression/anxiety med, just in case. As of today, September 1, it is mostly back to normal, though sweet things and the flavor of tomato are both still muted. Tomorrow marks 2 weeks since my last injection, and she doesn’t want me to take one this week either. We will discuss status on Thursday (Sept 5) to decide what to do for the following week. I did have an uptick in side effects (nausea, fatigue) due to the increased dosage, but they all returned to “Zepbound normal” within a week. Thankfully, I did *not* have a return of it messing with my cycle!
As many people in my Zebound Facebook group reported, I did stall for about 2 weeks after moving up, bouncing around the same 1.5 lb range for over 2 weeks. Now, that could have been due to the dosage change, or that could have been due to being right around one of my previous set points (285 lbs, which was my typical weight before the pandemic), so that could also have been a factor, meaning it’s possible the stall would have happened around that weight whether or not I increased my dose and it was just a coincidence. There’s just no way to know. I can say that it was absolutely no fun having to give myself the same “two weeks is not a stall, be patient, trust the process” speech that I’m usually giving to other people! The daily fluctuations on the scale don’t really bother me, though I do start getting annoyed if I go a week without a clear downward movement. But two weeks? That was tough! I did finally start moving down again this past week. Hopefully that was due to my body adjusting/accepting the new dosage and NOT because I couldn’t taste anything!
My September 2024 Goals:
- Maintain current weight, even though temporarily not on Zepbound (due to tasting issues)
- Focus on water, at least 48 oz per day (still struggling with this)
- Do 20 “five-minute” mobility workouts
- Mall walk at least 8 times (average of twice a week)
- Cook dinner at least 8 times (average of twice a week)
