Zepbound Goals – January/February 2025

This “every two months” thing seems to be working pretty well for the Zepbound updates, so I think I’ll stick with the format for 2025. (You know, until I change my mind again, as I am wont to do.)

Current Status: I have officially lost 56 lbs (25.4 kg) as of Jan 6, 2025

I accomplished my major “holiday goal” which was to basically stay at least status quo from Nov 15 to January 10. Assuming I don’t gain some absurd amount of weight in the next few days, not only will I have maintained all of my weight loss that I had achieved by Nov 15, but I have lost an additional 10 lbs (4.5 kg) since then, and I gained no weight over Christmas. Well, that’s not true – I gained 4 lbs between Dec 23 and Dec 29, but then lost them all by today (Jan 6), which just proves it was all water weight from extra carbs and salt and travel, not actual fat. Woohoo!

How did I do on my November/December 2024 Goals?

  • Maintain my weight through the holiday season – Basically, I want to weigh the same on Jan 7 (hopefully giving time for the holiday carb and travel water weight to dissipate) as I do on Nov 15. DONE!
  • Focus on water, at least 48 oz per day – DID WELL! – Not perfect, but I did reasonably well, at least until Christmas. It’s hard to remember to drink when things are so busy!
  • Do 40 “five-minute mobility” workouts (20 per month) – DID OKAY – I did almost none in November, which was awful of me, so the fact that I hit 34 done by the end of December is pretty good. I really am going to try and be better about these in 2025.
  • Walk for 30 consecutive minutes least 16 times (average of twice a week) – NOT SO GOOD – My knee really started hurting again in November, and things continued to deteriorate in December. I will be getting another cortisone shot next week, so that should help (I hope). I did, however, walk 10,000 steps in a day twice in December (once without even trying!)
  • Eat at home at least 12 times on non-Thanksgiving/non-Christmas weeks – DONE! – I did quite well here. Not the “best” options in terms of healthy/responsible, but we did eat at home. My focus for 2025 will be to get my meal planning back on track, including revamping some other recipes that could use some tweaking to keep them in the rotation but make a better fit for the macros.
  • Try 2 new recipes – NOPE – I tried one or two new things that Mom made at Christmas, but I didn’t even make the things I was supposed to make, much less try anything new. I really need to get on that. I have at least 2 lined up for January, though.

What goals do I have for January/February 2025, or 2025 in general:

  • I’m really at a loss on goals right now. I can feel my mental health taking a nose-dive, for several reasons. I can feel the “spiral” as an almost physical sensation. So really and truly, my number one goal for January and February is to stay on track and keep doing what’s working. I’m not sure if I can really manage more than that.
  • I want to increase my water intake, but it is incredibly difficult, especially when I would like to be able to sleep through the night (or at least with minimal trips to the bathroom), and I don’t see how anyone can do that if they’re drinking a gallon of water a day. Definitely going to stick with the 48 oz of water for the next 2 months, and I’ll try to add at least 8 more per day. Maybe I can “sneak up on it” without my bladder protesting too much.
  • Need to get my fiber intake straightened out. I tinkered with it a bit starting in mid-December, but that has not been working for me. I’m going to try a couple of other things before just going back to doing what I was doing (which was working okay, but I thought things could be better).
  • I’m going to put “try 2 new recipes” on here again, and that can include revamping a recipe that we like to make it a bit more macro friendly.
  • In that same vein, I want to have a 28-day meal plan ready by the end of February, one that meets my new dietary requirements. I keep putting it off, but I just need to sit down and do it!
  • Walk 30 consecutive minutes or 10,000 steps in a day at least 10 times.
  • As far as 2025 overall, I have really really REALLY tried to stay away from specific number goals, because those aren’t always within your control. But I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I really want to reach ONE-derland (under 200 lbs) by the end of the year. It should be do-able, but sticking to the program and everything continuing to work (including insurance coverage!!) is critical to that even having the potential to work.

My progress on my overall my weight goals:
